Nevada City Winery
Founded in 1980, Nevada City Winery's first location was an old garage outside of town. In 1982, the Winery moved to its current home, the even older Miners Foundry Garage in the heart of the Historic Downtown of Nevada City. Remarkably, the winery stands just two blocks from where the original Nevada City Winery was located in 1880, well over a hundred years ago.
Nevada County is one of California's oldest wine growing regions, first planted during the Gold Rush of the 1850s. By 1862, a downtown saloon was already pouring Zinfandel produced from local grapes. In 1885, the original Nevada City Winery produced 5000 cases of wine from grapes crushed on Spring Street behind the National Hotel.

"individuality and the ability to experiment are the key to a small winery. Our goal is to identify the best varietals in our region, and then let the grapes express themselves through the wine"
