Twelve Bottle Club

MIX

For the September Wine Club release, we are excited to share two extremely special three bottle verticals. Each wine in their respective verticals are made from the same grape varietal and from the same vineyard, but harvested in three consecutive years. Tasting them side-by-side enables you to experience the evolution of a specific wine over time, as well as better understand the effects of other influences such as weather, technique, and blending. It is rare to be able to offer a three-vintage vertical and we are very excited to share it with you.

ABOUT VERTICAL TASTINGS

Vertical tastings are a wonderful way to spend time with family and friends while learning something new about wine.

Vertical wines are typically served in chronological order, from youngest to oldest. By tasting in chronological order, the progression allows the wine-taster’s palate to build throughout the tasting.

Add a twist to the vertical tasting and do it “blind.” Conceal the bottles by wrapping in foil or placing in brown bags. The objective could be to determine which wine is the younger and which is the older of the three.

Whether you are a connoisseur or a novice, there is always something new to discover about wine. We here at Nevada City winery are excited about this vertical and thrilled to be able to share it with our members.

SUGGESTED PAIRINGS

Syrah
Pair Syrah with grilled meats, vegetables, wild game, and beef stew.

Petite Sirah
Petite Sirah food pairings should be as big and bold as the wine. Stick with red meats, stews, short ribs, hamburgers and barbecue of all types. It also pairs well with ethnic foods with lots of spices and herbs.

Sauvignon Blanc
Enjoy with cheese (especially goat cheese), green vegetables, oysters, delicate fish, mild vinaigrettes, and dishes with tangy dairy, herbal or briny sauces.

Chardonnay
Enjoy this Chardonnay on its own, with cheese, or alongside baked fish or herbed poultry made with mild buttery or creamy sauces.

Fumé Blanc
This slightly oaked white wine will complement lighter meals. Pair it with roasted chicken or pork tenderloin as well as anything involving seafood. Experiment with grilled salmon, smoked trout, sautéed scallops, crab cakes, fish tacos, or cioppino.

Reserve Chardonnay
Serve with mild, buttery or creamy dishes, meaty fish (halibut, cod) and shellfish (lobster, shrimp, crab, scallops). Also pairs nicely with simply seasoned poultry and pork.

Tempranillo Rosé
Perfect for a summer picnic or backyard barbecue. Pair with lighter dishes like prosciutto wrapped melon, salads, olives, hummus, shrimp, and fish.
