About the Show
Margie Miller’s “Landscapes Imagined” is a wonderous and buoyant view of California’s vast and diverse regions with valley farmlands and seascapes, shimmering leafed trees, and fauna. Miller’s colors are pulsating with life, blending in with her inventive and varied textures. The viewer’s eyes will find delight in Miller’s fun use of spacing and patterns, whether with dots calling us to experience unique angles, the curving paths of a river, or a quilt-like design surrounding a bird.
With “Landscapes Imagined” one will find a panorama of possibilities to open our imagination to California’s immense magical beauty, in a fresh and whimsical way.
Artist Statement
Artist Margie Miller talks about her Show "Landscapes Imagined" at the Nevada City Winery Gallery.
"Landscapes Imagined" was inspired by airplane flights I took over the California central valleys and my exploring the possibilities within the borders of farmland and natural geography. Using acrylic, paper, string, wood, and ephemera, I wanted these pieces to bring to one's attention an imaginary landscape. The exhibit also includes some of my encaustic (beeswax with pigment) paintings, incorporating wood and paper.
