Celebrating 28 Years
Of Award Winning Winemaking
Nevada City Winery, an undiscovered golden treasure of California's northern Sierra Foothills, has been producing award-winning wines since 1980. This premium, full production winery is located in the heart of historic, downtown Nevada City, the heartbeat of California's Gold Country. Nevada County has a long tradition of winemaking with the original vineyards dating back to California's Gold Rush. Today Nevada City Winery is located just two blocks from where it once stood in the 1880's.
Gold Medal Alert
The hits just keep on rolling. We just learned that the 2005 Contour won a Gold Medal at the Finger Lakes International Wine Competition. With almost 2500 wines entered from across the country and around the globe, Contour took a Gold Medal in the red Bordeaux category. That is no small achievement, only about 5% of all the wines entered earned Gold Medals. If you haven't tried it (it was January's Wine Club wine) it truly is a world class wine, as we like to say, with a local flavor.
Our 2005 Tempranillo won Best Of Class and a Double Gold Medal at the recent New World International Wine Competition. This is a wine that is continuing to develop and evolve, becoming increasingly more complex as it ages. The entire production was only 210 cases. Don't miss it.
Discover The Taste Of Gold
Winemaker Mark Foster has continued the tradition of producing flavorful, full-bodied, award-winning wines. Nevada City Winery has earned hundreds of awards over the years including Best Varietal Of Region for Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Zinfandel Sangiovese, Gewurztraminer and Cabernet Sauvignon at the California State Fair.
A Day In The Cellar
The 2007 reds have all finished malo-lactic and have been racked safely into barrels where they are resting peacefully. Mark is now working on preliminary fining and blending trials.
